A reimagining of the promotional poster I did circa 1986. Approx 11x17 inches.

Beautiful. Just beautiful. Clean as a whistle, maximum impact, minimum fuss - and that just spot-on smile. Loving your stuff these days, chief.

Cheers,

Mal

If a picture is worth a thousand words, then this piece is worth more than the thousand most recent Superman comics put together.

JB, I've noticed in your commissions, especially the recent ones, that you draw Superman's nose differently than you used to.  Is that a deliberate change you made, or just something that evolved?

A great reminder of the way things should be...

Congrats to the commissioner!

The inks on this one remind me of Mark Farmer's work over JB on TRUE BRIT... and that's not a bad thing!

Love his expression...there is something almost mischievous about it (in a good way of course).  JB, do you use something in particular (i.e. tools) to draw the symbol on Superman's chest?

I remember the original poster in a comic shop back in the day when at the time I was a real Marvel Zombie. And as a promo it worked enough to make me want to check out the comic, and that eventually got me into DC (along with Frank's work on Dark Knight).

This a really great commission -- really iconic. And it looks just like Superman should!

JB, did you try to recapture or channel your original line at all? It has something of the super-smooth line you had at the time.

I like the smile on the face -- very 'Superman' expression.

Your old stuff was not better.  Sorry, detractors.
