Both pieces are fantastic.

I imagine there are only a handful of good poses for Eternity.

Whoa.

Is there any story behind how these came about?

The Puck is obviously so close to AF#5 that I can only assume that the commissoner requested a direct reference to it. That said, any reason for the switch to the 'tights' version?

In terms of the art: Pucks' right hand and the musculature on the left arm are so much better than on the AF#5 version. Beyond that, it feels kind of scary just thinking that the original version appeared more than a quarter of a century ago (shudder). And it also reminds me of the hairy 'PUCK' blurb  (bigger shudder).

As for Eternity: the artwork is basically flawlless here. I respect the figurework, which is impressive considering you're basically dealing with just the outline -- everything is just right. I've never really felt anything for this character and so it doesn't quite give me the thrill of some of the other recent commissions, despite the undoubted quality of the artwork. Still that said, my congrats to the commissioner as the quality of artwork is so high.

I'd completely forgotten about Puck, hadn't seen him in many a year. What a great character, love the expression on his face!

I dunno about the rest of you, but this weekend took a Puck 'n'  Eternity to get here!

At first I thought the Puck was smiling, then it occurred to me that he's upside down so I switched my own perspective by tilting my head, and now it kinda looks like he's straining or putting a lot of effort into something. Is he smiling? Dodging enemy fire? Laughing?

One thing about JB's commission work on these "simple" individual pieces with no background, you can still look at them and there's still a story being told. So cool!

Brad, I think JB has commented before that the upside down smile is a neat artist trick to make someone that is upside down look like they're smiling. It kind of tricks the eye.

And, dude, your first sentence: well done, sir.

That Puck is terrific.  I still haven't forgiven JB for not sticking around for AF #300.

It does! It does trick the eye! I'm stealing that trick and using it!

Flavio - You stole my question!  I am interested to see JBs response though as this piece turned out even better then I imagined.
