To me, it means honoring the sacrifice, no matter how small, that our veterans made in the support of our country, whether during peacetime or during war.  As a veteran, I would like to thank all of my fellow veterans for their service and sacrifice.  Thank you

Thanks to those who have served, are serving, and to those that sacrificed their lives to protect the free world.

A reminder of my grandfather that died somewhere in Europe in 1942 and never really knew my mother, born 3 years earlier.  My grandmother was apparently destroyed by his death, and passed on nearly no details to my mom, so we know next to nothing about him.

To grandfather and all the men and women that have served and still serve to protect the US, Canada, UK and elsewhere, you have my thanks and support.

Guys, believe me when I tell you that I wish my country could be more supportive with our soldiers.

"Veteran day"? That's pure science fiction in Italy. The "our boys" culture is almost completely absent, here.

My father was a veteran of the Korean War.  Injured in combat, retired medically, died many years later due to complications from his military service.  His flight helmet (crew chief on a helicopter) sits in my living room on top of my bookshelf as a place of honor.

Classy way for people to make this about THEM instead of about the people this day is supposed to honor.

Thanks to everybody serving now, and everyone who's served in the past, especially all those who gave their lives to protect everything we believe in.

Thanks to all the veterans in our JBF family: Scott, William, Clint, and all the others.

Special thanks to my dad, Lt. William J. Downum, US Navy (ret.).  Anchors aweigh, Grandpa Bill, and happy Veterans Day.

Veterans Day is for VETERANS.
Memorial Day is for the DEAD.
Armed Forces Day is for CURRENT SOLDIERS.

As a relative of two formerly living veterans, it really irritates me when people turn Memorial Day & Veterans Day into a "support the troops" thing.
