Y'Know Whirlwind/Human Top is a mutant so that makes this commission worth over one BILLION dollars.

I love how your background buildings always blend into each other, because they are filled in with black.

I see the French curve got a lot of action on the whirlwind part of the
drawing.

••

French curve down to around YJ's knee, then the elliptical template takes
over!

Again, a classic match-up from my childhood days.  I always did have a place in my heart for Hank's Yellowjacket identity and Whirlwind (my recollection of the villain's name) seems like a perfect match for him.

Nice bit about how the whirlwind effect was created.  There's a set of tools which I've never made much use of over the years...

I got an excellent rush of nostalgia from seeing this one. Hank Pym should have stuck with the Yellowjacket persona from the moment he adopted it, and Whirlwind is a terrific villain.

Congrats to the proud owner and to the master illustrator known as JB.

I'd be just about paralyzed without them! Time was, I would have done
some of the smaller ellipses in various jobs freehand, but in the end it just
makes sense to use a template. The lines are smoother, cleaner, and, often
as not, faster!

Plus, when it comes to something like, say, Captain America's shield, I can't
imagine how I ever contented myself with drawing it freehand! Even
on large commission pieces, where my templates often are not big enough
to use directly, I'll still use them to make a "model" I can scale up on my
photocopier, trace onto the drawing, and then ink with the french curve. I'm
sure most here will agree the end result makes it worth the extra effort!

Whoa I really like this one.  What a great pick for characters and then the look that JB gave the piece was simply unbelievable.

Wonderful job JB and congratultions to the commissioner for an inspired piece.
