Kumail Nanjiani has a new podcast about the X-Files where he and a guest discuss the show episode by episode so I watched the pilot and the next 3 episodes to catch up.  I'd never seen JERSEY DEVIL before so that was an interesting episode.  I should start a running tally of how often Fox ends up in Dutch with local law enforcment.

It's funny watching "young" David Duchovny in that first season.  I was roughly 10 years younger* than Fox Mulder when I first started watching the show.  He was such an adult to me.     Now, I'm roughly 10 years older than S1 Fox, but I find myself still "looking up" to him as an actualized adult.

*Turns out, more than that.  Fox was born in 1961.  So he's got 15 years on me.  Fox would have been 31 in 1992.

COMMUNITY, S1, Disk 1

I was nervous about going back to the first season, fearful that the severe down turn in the last might have retroactively tainted my favorite comedy.

To borrow a line from Vaughn, no worries.

NUMB3RS season 1... I didn't pay any attention to this show when it ran on CBS from 2005-2010. It seems to have been lost among all the other police procedurals that CBS was cranking out during that decade in order to capitalize on the popularity of CSI and NCIS.

Interesting premise for a television show to have a mathematician as one of its lead characters. Season 1 was entertaining enough to where I am going to check out the second season on DVD.

I've been bouncing between LEWIS and ENDEAVOUR. Both are BBC spinoffs of the old INSPECTOR MORSE series, one a prequel and one a sequel. LEWIS focuses on Morse's old partner, now Inspector Robbie Lewis and his new partner Sgt. James Hathaway, while ENDEAVOUR (which was Morse's little heard first name) is about Morse's days as a young detective constable. I'm enjoying both series.

Finished the first season of COMMUNITY, started the second. All holding up wonderfully.

(Two episodes in the first season I regularly skip: "Buddy" and the annoying teenagers.)

Just popped in the first disc of The Young Ones.  I couldn't even guess how many times I've seen each episode, but it still cracks me up.

Discovered PARKS AND RECREATION via Netflx recently. After an amusing but uneven first season, I'm really enjoying it. Leslie and Tom were funny from the beginning but some of the other characters have been so much better in season 2 (Ron Swanson and Andy in particular).

Just watched "Errand of Mercy" from STAR TREK Season One...this might be my favorite episode!  Hard to believe this is the only appearance by the Klingons in the original series.  Kor is a fantastic villain and the dialog between Kor and Kirk is wonderful throughout.

That's the FIRST appearance by the Klingons, Joe. There were plenty of others.

Right. I was going to say that they pop up quite a bit throughout TOS.

Oh yeah, the Romulans only appear once, right?

Just looked it up, there are 7 total appearances by the Klingons in TOS, "Errand of Mercy" is the only one in Season One.

I definitely remember them in "The Trouble with Tribbles" but after that most of the other appearances aren't really standing out to me.

The Romulans appear onscreen at least twice that I can recall in the Original Series, Joe. First in "Balance of Terror" and again the third season's "The Enterprise Incident." A Romulan warship also plays a role in the episode "The Deadly Years."

Gorns only show up once, if that helps. Mugatos as well.
