Currently watching GILLIGAN'S ISLAND, season one, disc one.  Although I enjoy the show, it's not one I had planned to purchase -- but Target had a pack with seasons one and two on sale.

I almost picked up a similar pack with I DREAM OF JEANNIE, but it contained the colorized version of season one.  Blech.

I am even now watching season 4 of Stargate SG-1, always a winner in my book.

Transformers: Season 2 part 2.

Mmm... Classic Transformers.... And it holds up surprisingly well considering it's 25 years old.

MAD MEN season one

What an amazing show!  I got recommendations for this series from enough sources that I finally watched just to get them off my back.  And then I went on to enjoy every second.

I love that they smoke everywhere in this show, even in offices with closed windows.  I came into the working world right at the point where smoking in offices was going out of style.  We had one old school office smoker guy show up at the advertising agency I worked at in Boston.  He was high level enough to just light up one day without asking anybody, literally sparking protest.  I grew up in a smoker house so it didn't bother me - I say let the poor guy poison us and ride secretaries like horses and let us celebrate the bad behavior of the 1960s!

It only gets better Tim. One of my favorite shows on right now.

I like that they try to be as authentic as possible, but I can only take the smoking in small doses. Especially when it is by a pregnant woman.

*****

I bought season 1 of Transformers and Gi Joe last month. Gi Joe I have caught off and on over the years. But I had not seen Transformers since I was 6. It holds up well. After watching that and a bunch of Gi Joe, I wonder why these 80s shows get dismissed out of hand as being bad.

As mentioned in another thread, I recently finished a marathon of all the seasons of SCRUBS. A divorced pal has been staying in my guest room for a few months, now, and his Ex was never interested in watching the show. It was a lot of fun reviewing the whole series again (which I last did about 2 years ago), and it holds up very well, start to finish.

Simultaneously, we've been watching DEAD LIKE ME, another series he missed, which also holds up nicely.

I've got to finish the 8th season of SCRUBS. Then I'm doing the marathon again.

Unless I'm watching a show I've never seen before or one with a continuing storyline, I tend to bounce around my TV on DVD collection: a disc of I LOVE LUCY one night, THE SIMPSONS the next, etc.  Tonight I watched a few episodes of LAVERNE AND SHIRLEY, season two.

I just finished watching season 2 of Justice League, still a great show but I prefer the silver-age feel of Brave and the Bold.

I'm continuing to make my way through NIP/TUCK; just finished the last disc of season three and started season four.  I'm enjoying the show, although its sensationalistic and hyper-dramatic nature throws plausibility out the window.  (Two family members being kidnapped, under totally different circumstances, at the exact same time?  Uh, right.)

Not on DVD, but I've been watching some episodes of HOGAN'S HEROES on the Universal HD channel.  I've often wondered if there is any value to having some of these old shows in HD, and this answered that question -- I've never seen an older series look so gorgeous.
