We just finished the first season of DEAD TO ME on Netflix. Really enjoyed it. A few twists and turns you don’t expect. Some you do. Some really good work by the ever adorable Christina Applegate and eternally lovely Linda Cardellini.

I got out some British DVD sets with episodes I haven't seen on them. Last night I enjoyed one Ghost Squad circa 1962 followed by a Doom Watch circa 1969. I still have some Z Cars, Strange Report and Out Of The Unknown I haven't gotten to, always nice to have things on hand when there is 'nowt on telly'. :^)

Oh, and I saw an episode of a new show called Dimension 505 I think it's called... sort of an Outer Limits updated... the one I saw was centered on a woman inspired by a 'Time Ranger' cartoon show growing up that is being erased from existence. It was fun, they showed bits of the cartoon and there were figures and a theme song... I might try another episode. I might have the title remembered a bit wrong though.

WHERE NO MAN HAS GONE BEFORE and THE CORBOMITE MANEUVER —1966

Two of my favorite STAR TREK TOS episodes, conveniently on the same disk.

The second was directed by Joseph Sargent, which sent me to the IMDb to remind myself of his other work. Several of my favorite movies, as it turns out. Amusingly, for three of his movie and TV jobs they use comicbook covers in lieu of posters.

THE NIGHT THAT PANICKED AMERICA (1975)

TV movie. An adaptation of an adaptation, if you will. A dramatization, with some liberties taken, of the Mercury Theater on the Air’s October 30, 1939 broadcast of Orson Welles’ version of THE WAR OF THE WORLDS, by H. G. Wells.

In recent years it has become popular to dismiss as urban legends the stories of panic engendered by this rather cleverly staged radio play. Maybe. But there sure are a lot of contemporary newspaper headlines and editorial cartoons suggesting something happened!

Seems like we watched this in high school. Is John Ritter in it?

Yup. He plays a fictional character—one of several representing the “panic”.

Krypton Season 1

I heard some good things about this show so I bought season 1 on Blu-Ray for $15 on Amazon.

I'm not the biggest fan of DC's TV output, but I thought the first two episodes were really good. Hopefully the next eight are just as good.

What do you think of the new “adult” tone?

I thought it was absolutely brilliant.

The use of foul language threw me for a loop, but makes things more realistic. I really like that they're tackling more relevant real world issues.

Also glad to see Anthony Edwards and Lauren Holly on board, but their subplot isn't that interesting.
