Wow! The depth created by the blacks is amazing. The characters are popping right out of my screen.

X-Men Victorious!

Immediately I flash on an exchange in SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL SHERIFF. James Garner's character is handed a sheriff's badge with a dent in it, clearly caused by the impact of a bullet.

"Why, this must have saved that man's life!"

"Oh, I reckon it would have, if it wasn't for all them other bullets comin' in from all over!"

"John Byrne's X-Men"

Why would anyone mess with that Storm outfit? It's perfect! This picture
reminds me of the days when Colossus was my favorite X-Man.

Great piece.

This almost brought tears to my eyes. Sweet memories of when these comics and characters were the most important thing in my life.

Curiously, unless I missed one in my quick scan of the Commissions, the last time we had an X-Men action scene (LINK) it was these same four.

I agree. All subsequent Storm costumes have been either boring or terrible or both, relative to the classic costume anyway.

All kinds of awesome.

I like seeing Storm and Wolverine both in the only costumes they should ever wear.

Excellent.

I always get a small tear when I think of what we could have enjoyed (aborted storylines, etc...)

That Nightcrawler really gets around.

Nice composition. Really like Nightcrawler's feet in this one.

Ah, awesome!!  I was just checking out the X-Men run this past week through the omnibus, marvel masterworks, and "Days of Future Past" soft cover TPB.  I realiized this week there is no single volume that collects JB's X-Men run.  I bought the masterworks after the omibus came out, thinking it would finish JB's run.  But it didn't include "Days of Future Past"

It's pretty damn amazing that "Days of Future Past" happened within just a few issues of Dark Phoenix.  Two hugely iconic stories right on top of each other.

And, of course, neither were stories Chris and I thought would become "iconic".

It is a truism that nobody ever created anything important by sitting down and thinking "Today I will create something IMPORTANT!"

I love it!  There is just something about seeing the X-Men and a smashed up Sentinel.  Really wonderful stuff.  Congratulations to the commissioner.
