JB: "The choice is as much mine as theirs, Michael. Until sanity is restored -- if that day ever comes -- I have no interest in working at Marvel or DC. I have, in fact, declined jobs." We are spread out all over the world, and you are in Connecticut (I believe), but if you open a window, I am sure you'll be able to hear the collective sobs of the entire Forum!

Very nice. I always felt that Kang was Marvel's "forgotten" master super-villain.

I like the belt, boots, left hand and weapon on this one. Nice.

Admittedly Kang is not my most favored villain, but this is easily the best interpretation of Kang I've ever seen.

Love the shadowing effect on the sleeves on the character's right arms. Beautiful strokes.

Very nice. Feeling a Gil Kane vibe from this. But then, I get that from a lot of your recent commissions.

JB - This is going to sound strange, but I assure you its not a criticism - at least not in a negative way. When I look at this commission, it doesn't automatically scream "John Byrne." I don't have enough experience with other artists for it to give me a "vibe," but except for that left hand (and the signature), I would not know it was yours.
I'm trying not to be insulting, but usually when I see a Byrne drawing, I recognize it immediately. For example, several years ago, I picked up the comics section of my newspaper and noticed that Funky Winkerbean had a different artist. It took all of three seconds to realize,"This is John Byrne." Not this time.
Please don't take it badly, because I really like it. It just doesn't look like your normal work to me. But what do I know; I'm not an artist.

I've always liked the character, but hated the costume. This drawing may have changed that a little. Nice work, JB.

That's just awesome. Not only is that just a great pose (JB driving home his point about being allowed to pose characters in his pieces) but there's just something about Kang's left hand that I can't stop looking at. Maybe it's JB doing Ditko fingers, I'm not sure.
and I was just thinking about asking for a Kang ...

Kang hasn't looked this good since he was drawn by Alan Davis way back during the pre-Dark/New/NotReallyThe Avengers days.

For people wondering I think the split of Kang and Immortus into two separate entities was Busiek's Avengers Forever.
As for Kang now, he's due in the new Avengers book drawn by JRJR but, sadly, written by Bendis.

the split of Kang and Immortus into two separate entities was Busiek's Avengers Forever ****************** I don't remember that being in the book.
