That is an absolutely beautiful page. I'm not even trying to decipher it, just sitting back and enjoying it. Thanks for sharing it, JB (is it alright for new people to use 'JB'? I typed 'Mr. Byrne' but it looked strange somehow...?) Plus, seeing these characters 'move' underneath your pen again... they look better than ever. I recall having read that a similar approach to the artwork was going to be used, or something to that effect. I think you just blew THAT guy out of the water. So excited.

I like the deep, "flat" black on the suits Jack and Jazz are wearing.

Weird. My first glimpse of that page I saw what looked like two men sharing a right hand (the perspective on the hand makes sense if you look at each person in isolation). Then it dawns on me, that's Jack crushing someone's hand.
The problem isn't with your art JB, it's my Early Saturday Morning Brain making me see optical illusions everywhere!

Terrific !!! JB you are giving me a chance I missed eons ago. I only discovered JBNM in back issue when I ended my comic draught (15 years) 5 years ago....purchasing the 400 JB issues (including all your DC !!! Do you imagine folks ?) I never read in three years. I will now live as you folks in 1991 : waiting history being written and drawn in front of you...and sadly only one issue a month

So in a bit of cosmic synergy, I was at my LCS today and he was having a sale on to clear up some space.
Picked up both Compleat Next Men volumes for 16 bucks. I'm about two dozen pages into volume 1 right now (so 2112) and it's great. I'm looking forward to being all caught up so I can start collecting with you folks when the series continues!

Well, I had pretty much decided that if I were ever lucky enough to be able to afford a John Byrne commission, it would either be Captain Marvel vs the Monster Society of Evil or the Fantastic Four vs Doctor Doom and the Sub- Mariner. Now, with JB returning to what I consider his best comic book series work, I have to once again consider the Next Men when making my decision!
