The request was for an all-out battle between the original X-Men and Magneto, and what could be better inspiration than the cover of X-MEN 1?18x24 inches Full sized scan on its way to Dan as usual!

Always loved this specific team. The outfits, the feeling of innocence, a non-hairy Beast! Is it odd that I have a fondness for Bobby in his "snowman" appearance rather than the hardened "iceman" that became the norm? Great commission. I'm jealous!

Always loved this specific team. •• My favorite team, my favorite period. All kinds of nostalgia, working on this one. Looking at my own copy of X-MEN 1, for a start, and having a whole flood of sense-memories come back. Plus -- Best Uniforms Ever!

Brilliant! I've seen that cover reimagined a hundred times, but it never would have occurred to me to flip the POV like that.

Amazing! I love these outfits and this team in general. Growing up "my" X-Men were the All-New All-Different team but as the years have gone on the original team is my favorite now.
I love how Cyclops actually looks "slim"! With non-furry Beast these are how these characters should be.
Awesome work, JB! Love the breakage on this one. Congratulations to the very lucky commissioner.

Is it odd that I have a fondness for Bobby in his "snowman" appearance rather than the hardened "iceman" that became the norm? --- These are my X-Men! The great uniforms, the non-hairy Hank, Bobby in boots... I've said many times that I prefer this look for Drake, even though his current look may better suit the name Iceman. Oh, and I really like the way Jean is using her powers of telekinesis on the pieces of debris around her.

Awesome piece. The old uniforms are my favorite also. I notice only the Beast got the shiny treatment this time.
