That is great news.  Already looking forward to the sneak.  I have missed reading about these characters.

Great news! I haven't been excited about a comic in more than 10 years. Thanks JB!

Good news.  Looking forward to this series.  Having not been exposed to it, and knowing nothing, I'm excited to discover the new!  I do have the phone books, but haven't read them yet.  I feel like a kid again.

Excellent!

I hope the Muses are sufficiently inspiring this September morning.

I look forward to Next Men hitting the stands once again.

It's often kinda nerve racking, the way my "muses" work.

Gearing up to restart JBNM, I knew there were two things that had to be in the first issue: a easy "on ramp" for potential new readers, and something that would shake up the "old timers" so that they would not get that "same old same old" vibe. I had some general ideas of how this would play, but the actual starting point kept eluding me. As many of you know, I like to start as deep into a scene or story as I can, and fill in the background as we go. Finding just how DEEP to start in this issue was proving difficult. I'd sketched out a first page that seemed like a good starting place, but. . .   if that was the first page, what was page two? And three? And four. . .

Then I woke up this morning and THERE THEY WERE. It was like there had been a log jam at the back of my brain, and suddenly it all came spilling out. This is very often how it works -- but I never get used to it! I'm always afraid that THIS will be the time it DOESN'T happen. . . !!!

JB Do you have any rituals or superstitions that you use to try and coax your "muses" into action or do you just have to go with the flow and let it happen when it happens?

I have to turn the lights in my Studio on and off 17 times every morning, or my friends will all die, but other than that. . . .
