I have actually never been a fan of daylight savings time but I especially have issue with its being extended into November. I am an early riser (a result of age, I suppose), so I'm not fond of heading for the gym when it's still dark out.

About a year ago, perhaps more, I turned off the alarm clock and decided to let myself wake up whenever I wake up. Turned out I was pretty much conditioned, and continued for a long while to wake up at 5:30am, as usual. Lately, tho, I have found myself waking closer to 6:30. I guess the "fall back" will "correct" this!

Much as JB said of Edmonton, I'm in Winnipeg where I wake up in the dark, leave for work in the dark, and when I used to work a 9-5 job came home in the dark.
The only thing saving me from that this year isn't DST, it's the fact that most schools let out at 3:15-3:30 so I still have an hour and half or so of daylight to get home and make supper... in the dark.

My kids were going out to the bus stop in the dark last week; this week they will not. That's good enough for me.

Won't that change back to the dark next week or the week after when the days get even shorter?

Best thing about moving to Indiana was no Daylight Saving Time. Worst thing about Mitch Daniels was his putting Indiana on DST - and in the Eastern time zone, to boot! Worst thing about George W. Bush was his making it so we spend MORE of the year on the WRONG time than on the RIGHT time. No, wait. He was also a war criminal. So make it second worst!

Morning bus picks up at 7:15 AM, they're returned about 3 PM.

And they'll get about two hours of daylight to enjoy after school. As a kid growing up in a fairly rural area, I hated that.

I prefer waking up to daylight, and it doesn't bother me much that it will get
dark between 4:00 and 5:00 in the afternoon. I run four mornings a week at
5:00 am, and it will be nice to see where I'm going.

i do not like DST especially the way they do it now - we are in DST longer than we are on the "real" time zone. let's just change it! or, better yet, let's just adjust EVERY time zone by 1/2 hour and do away with DST.

I work an evening shift, so regardless of DST, I am waking up in daylight and going home in the dark. The only thing I like about DST is the "fall back" extra hour of sleep; of course, the "spring forward" loss of an hour stinks, so it balances out.
