The latest issue of ARCHITECTURAL DIGEST has a feature on the home of Hank Azaria. One of the rooms shown is his "playroom", where, on a shelf to one side, he had a small display of those tin superhero "signs" that were popular a while back -- including one of mine.

Now, unfortunately it is that Wolverine-leaping-at-Sauron figure, one of my least favorites among my own drawings of the character, but a full, uncropped action shot, and so one that is most likely to be used as clip art in stuff like this.

Anyway, it's a minor thrill to think that Azaria, a performer whose work I have long admired, may occasionally pause to look at an example of MY work!

I saw an online article recently -- on Yahoo! or Entertainment Weekly, I think -- about Azaria's home, which was described as "kid friendly".  It was a lovely home, and an impressive collection from what I could see, but a bunch of collectibles on the wall does not make a home "kid friendly" in my book -- just the opposite, I would think!

While I have no interest in the new SMURFS movie, I have to say that they
really nailed Gargamel by casting Azaria:

I haven't seen footage of him in a speaking role yet, but I have no doubt that
a seasoned voice actor like Azaria will be able to do the Gargamel voice
flawlessly.

Yes, my own house is full of toys, but "kid friendly" is the last term I would use to describe it! "Look with your eyes, not with your fingers" is an oft repeated phrase around Byrne Central.

Good for you John!!!!  That must be amazingly satisfying.

I wasn't aware that Azaria was such a big fan of apples. Wow.

That's where Hank keeps the body parts.

That's very cool!  It's awesome finding out that favorite artists are fans of comic books.  And if they like JB, then it shows they have taste as well!

I have that tin sign - I snapped it up when I saw it.  That issue was always a favorite growing up.  It is used a lot.
