Love the lighting effects! COOL!! I don't think it hurt at all that I had the ESSENTIALS edition of the issue, with beautiful black and white art by John Buscema and Tom Palmer, open on my board while I drew this piece. Some small portion of that magic seems to have crept in by osmosis.

Fantastic!!! You do the best Avengers, JB! Maybe not the BEST, but SO much better now than at any time I have worked on the title. I wonder where I can rent a time machine. . . ?

Yeah, there's no need for color on this one- the light and dark areas are used masterfully here! Looks like Iron Man is about to get a game-winning shot on Ares though :-)

Nice to see these characters in good hands. One thing that stands out to me is the poses of everyone.

Oh wow!!!I didn't know we could get a JB commission inked by Tom Palmer...Oh wait. I love the Zodiac and I have toyed with the idea of having them in a commission.

Great job JB. As stated above, the shadow work on and around Cap really catch the eye. I wish I had that time machine for you to rent.

Man-o-man, I wish we could get an Avengers book outta you, JB, with these three guys on the team. While not THE AVENGERS, or any other team I have worked on before, the superhero title I am cooking up for IDW will be very much a return to these fields which have, in times of yore, proven so fertile for me. Still at least a year away, tho!

Okay, now I am sad again. I thought the superhero title was coming out after AFTERMATH.

I thought the superhero title was coming out after AFTERMATH. Wait! You're right! Chris Ryall asked me to shuffle the lineup, so it's now AFTERMATH, then ****, and THEN the next COLD WAR arc. I've been directing my thoughts this week toward the color covers for the next CW, and that threw me off track for a moment.

A year! Oh man. I'm sure it will be worth the wait. At least we have COLD WAR and AFTERMATH to tide us over. I agree with the others your Avengers commissions are great.
