I know JB's not very fond of his art from that time period, but man that
little tease of Beta and Gamma Flights ignited my imagination when I
first read it. I wanted to more about them and tried to figure out the
characters myself.

After showing my wife this thread and explaining the co-incidence about my special 'connection' to this take on the uniform switch, I've put it out there that I'd love to bid on it when it goes up on eBay.

"But Honey," I said, "It could be my Christmas present!"
Then I threw out the zinger, "It's like it was custom-made just for ME!" in a petulant whine that women love to hear from their husbands.

When Jim puts this piece up on eBay, it's gonna be a bloodbath. All of us JBFers at each others throats. Merry Christmas! :)

Fun stuff, I'm always in favor of the costume with a mask.

I posted my own take on this a while back.

••

As I was working on my drawing, I THOUGHT it felt familiar!

So, would this be the Four-Men?

Maybe the IV-Men?

The idea that my drawing had somehow wormed it's way into your subconscious is all kinds of amazing to THIS life-long fan of your work, Chief!

As a matter of fact, I've peppered ALL of my posts with subliminal messages throughout the years! Cluck like a chicken INDEED! MMmwa-HA-HA-HA!!!

The yellow really helps you see the design is the X-men uniforms, where the blue one makes you think it's a fresh design altogether.

Couldn't they have both? ;)

I do miss Reed's greying temples. Probably because of the FF, I
associate them with a professorial attitude.

I like the blue better; maybe it is just because of tradition or maybe I
like blue and Ben's orange better than yellow and Ben's orange.

JB (as 'The Old Man From Scene 24') : "What... Is your favorite color?"

Me:  "Blue... No, Yellow...  ARRRRRRGGHH!"

(Gets tossed into The Gorge of Enternal Peril)
