I really dig the feel of Darkseid's confidence against Thanos' pure anger! :-)

Didn't someone joke here once that a Darkseid vs. Thanos scene would basically be Darkseid standing over a charred pile of unidentifiable matter? At any rate, that's a beautiful piece, with a couple elements that really speak "Kirby" to me - Darkseid's upraised right hand, and that burning tower to the upper right.

Well, that's pretty amazing. When it comes to Darkdseid, nobody, not even Kirby himself, draws him better than you JB. Since, I first saw you draw him in LEGENDS, I've thought so. Thanos here is equally as good.
All that said, my favorite part of this piece is the platform they're standing on. The shading on it makes it look absolutely functional, and that it definitely lives on Apokolips. It just looks greasy, gritty and cool!

Boy, that sure is nice. What a battle. Yes, my money would be on Darkseid. Wonderful image and I really like the backgrounds and foregrounds. Jack would be proud.

Incidentally, altho I have no particular fondness for the character, by virtue of my totally arbitrary system, this piece earns Thanos a line on the Character Count Chart.

When I get to think of Legends, I think I can blame JB for making me a steady comics collecting kid. I had been buying sporadically, but when I put my hands in the brazilian equivalent of Legends # 6, the art just floored me. Everyone of those characters was drawn in a way that I saw as a sort of definitive one.
From then on I started to buy comics monthly and steadly (which led to my passion for the controversial Giffen/DeMatteis/Maguire "sitcom" run on JLA). Then everytime I ran into a JB story that humbling feeling would come back. "This guy can draw!!!!". Twenty and something years later, nothing changed.

wow! The depth on this is beautiful. Tech looks amazing! That torch is so real looking! The strokes of your brush/brush pen make this a stunner in technique. I'm so grateful to see this when I spend the night working on my own technique, and thinking I've done well....
MAN, do I have miles and miles, maybe LIGHT YEARS, to go!

The strokes of your brush/brush pen make this a stunner in technique.•• I've been complaining much, of late, that the PITT brush pens have turned a bad corner, and for several years have been nowhere near as good as they were when I first started using them. Where once I could get solid blacks and a couple of pages out of a single pen, I now find I get dark grays, and the nib is shot before I have finished even half a page. On this piece, tho, I realized I could actually turn that to my advantage, and get some extra texture by "layering" the blacks. Quite happy with how it worked out. +++ MAN, do I have miles and miles, maybe LIGHT YEARS, to go! •• As do I, Joe! As do i!

Darkseid will crush him, but Thanos will meet Death--so win-win.
