Cute!  I really like that picture!

Also wanted to add:  Bill Mantlo, I think, is probably severely underrated when it comes to his work on ROM and THE MICRONAUTS.  Did they set the comic world on fire?  No.  But were both series about 100 times better than they had any right to be, having been based on toy lines, before it became the "in" thing to do?  I say without a doubt.

How did ROM get out of Assistant Editor's Month, btw?

There was a one page story to support that silly Editor gag -- and that was it.

...JB had to add himself into an entire issue of FF and do that blank Snowbird issue of AF.

Doesn't seem fair.

Wow, I must be really tired.  That A.E.M. page from ROM is pretty silly, but damn, if it didn't make me laugh out loud!!!

Can't remember the story behind this JB ROM sketch? Anyone?

ROM was great.

The Dire Wraiths were really creepy when I was a 7-year-old reading ROM.

Bill Mantlo comes in for a lot of criticism, but I think he did a great job with ROM. Coupled with Sal Buscema, how can you go wrong???

The Hellhounds were wicked scary.

Also, I really enjoyed the way Sal drew ROM's eye energy sort of creating energy "smoke" when he moved his head. I didn't notice until now, but I don't believe it was maintained later in the series?
