I've been itching to ask, if you ever considered doing a big cross-over event between all your own characters/properties? In the same spirit the Superman/Spiderman crossover was done, I mean?

"All" would come down to JBNM, DANGER UNLIMITED and now TRIO, right?

DU will be cross-connecting with TRIO, via an appearance by the villain Golgotha, tho this will not establish them as originating in the same "universe". The Torch of Liberty appeared in the first issue of HELLBOY (speaking of shared universes), and Hellboy appeared in JBNM, albeit as a "comicbook character" brought to life thru Sandy Tolliver's "triggered" mental powers.

So, I guess all my "universes" HAVE intersected already, tho not all at the same time.

(I don't consider COLD WAR part of this equation, since Michael Swann, as much as possible, exists in "the real world".)

JB, I was wondering if it's possible for you to ever use the Lab Rats characters again in a non-DC comic? If I recall correctly, they are creator-owned.

Yup. The rights to the Rats have reverted to me. Just recently, in fact. Just before I started on TRIO.

JB with the rights going back to you, can you have IDW or another publisher reprint the books?

Cool, any chance of IDW putting the existing issues out in trade? I
have some of them, but as the series went on it got almost impossible
to find copies on the racks.

Reprinting the original LAB RATS presents a problem, due to the heavy presence of DC elements.

A new series is not out of the question, however.

JB, would you consider having any of those "hanging" creations being illustrated by someone else while you do the writing?

Lab Rats was such a good book.  Felt like roller-coaster ride to me.

I've said that so much that I dare not say it again lest JB have me ejected
from the forum!

I just realized the Torch Of Liberty and Lobster Johnson could be in the same book.

I would love to see more of the Torch of Liberty. If I am not mistaken, didn't he make an appearance with DU when they were all on stage together?

I was thinking, between, NEXT MEN, COLD WAR, TRIO and
ROCKETEER work, as well as what the future may hold, this is the
best time to be a John Byrne fan.

I'd like to see more of DANGER UNLIMITED, NEXT MEN, TRIO and LAB RATS. These are my favorite Byrneverse series.

Speaking about LAB RATS: What about changing Superman by Vanguard?

JB, this is something I always wanted to know. Thanks in advance!

1- Are these character creations for a back cover JB copyrighted or maybe they are just simple studies without identity?
They got names? Were they used anywhere else?

2-What's the year that piece was drawn? I think I first saw this piece in 2002, but  it looks to me like the art you produced in the late 90's...

Yes I've seen it...Sort of remind me of some of the "Russian NextMen"

And is this an early version of Vanguard ?

Edited to remove an answer to a question that wasn't asked to me.

Yes, they reminded me to the Russian NextMen the first time I saw this piece too.

I personally think they look too cool to be copyright free. They must have names or something.

I hope JB can tell us!

If Marvel is not an option (yet), JB's own universe is the best option for a new series.

There is, of course, another enormous hurdle in the way of a new LAB RATS series: Disney currently has a (very similar) TV series using that title. And while I was certainly "there first", Disney's legion of lawyers could make any attempt of mine to publish the Rats in a new form WAY more trouble than it could possibly be worth.
