I was wondering the status/state of Cate, George, and the other future people from the tower, at the end of Aftermath. I assume at a minimum Cate and George are real given the ending and not Sandy's constructs (but not so sure about the other tower survivors not seen at the end). Are they restored/returned to the semi-utopian-esk future (now free of those pesky artificially triggered halflings)?

••

Cate and the rest were real, but they belonged to a timeline that has been wiped away. Something in the nature of the time travel equipment allowed them to exist "outside" the timestream, and so check and "edit" their manipulations (as we saw), but once Sandy put everything "back to normal" nothing from that point forward existed in the form(s) we had previously seen.

So, yeah, basically I erased the whole friggin' series!!

+++

Or maybe that is a question better left for the next series.

••

The next series returns to Gower, Cynthia and the Seventies. You'll get some hints, obviously, about how that's different from what we "knew" before, but it won't be the focus.

So JB if you write a new Next Men storyline taking place for example in 1990, it will be a 1990 "after" JBNM #44 ?

Will this colour your re-readings of 2112 and the original series?  Will it cheapen the experience in some way knowing that this timeline and all the stories that happened in it were wiped away?

Hell, no.

If anything it'll be far more interesting to see if JB left a few easter eggs in the original series, both deliberate and serendipitous.  I have a feeling the ending of 2112 is the tip of the iceberg if you start looking closely.

Now, go back and reread the last 30 years of Amazing Spider-man and tell me you don't feel at least a little bit dirty every time they mention the marriage!

I think Yvan might be stuck in a time loop.  :-)

Perhaps JB can write him out of it!

Thinking about that last page of 2112 again, the whole series of JBNM is simply an answer to that. That's just friggin' cool.
