One of my favorite things about JB's art is his ability to create individual faces.  Each character has a distinct look and is easily identifiable.

I found myself imagining what different characters from literature would look like under his deft hand. which led directly to imagining whole works told in his style.

Personally I would love to see:

Peter Pan:
His kids look like kids, and Captain Hook would be amazing. Let's also imagine the ship and fight scenes.

What other works and/or characters would you wish to read from our host?

The works of Tolkein of course, knowing that JB has a lot more respect for the material than a certain filmmaker.

I would have said James Bond, but having a character in the same genre created by JB instead works just fine.

I'd also like to see his depiction of my favorite fictional character, Sherlock Holmes.

And maybe, and this would be very hard to adapt to any medium I think, Roger Zelazny's CREATURES OF LIGHT AND DARKNESS.

I think JB would be a nice job with the characters from Piers Anthony's
XANTH series.

The Fellowship has been done, but I'd love to see some memorable moments from the Silmarillion.  Fingolfin vs. Morgoth would be at the top of my list.

I wouldn't mind a quiet moment from To Kill A Mockingbird or a not so quiet moment from Frankenstein.

I'd like to see "The Sun Dog" short story by Stephen King illustrated by John and Bill Sienkiewicz. John for the regular world scenes and Bill for scenes in the sun dog's world.
What got me thinking about this was a post by someone in the original
art thread of something called a bug bear by Bill Sienkiewicz. I remember
thinking at the time I saw it that it reminded me of how I'd imagined the
sun dog to look when I was reading the story.

Also,I'd love to see JB tackle anything by Jules Verne.

I would love to see him do Terry Brooks, R A Salvatore, Terry Goodkind, Karen traviss, and Kim Harrison. JB's style I think would work great with these writers, they are some of my favorites.

Anything by Philip K. Dick. JB knows how to draw sci-fi.

Most of my current reading is action, adventure, science fiction, and
fantasy from about 1900 to 1950. LOTS of PULPS! So, my list is stuff
like; Doc Savage, The Shadow, Tarzan, John Carter as well as Tom
Swift. I've seen commissions or drawings for a couple of these, but I'd
LOVE to see some of the novels adapted by JB.

I'm a sucker for any re-visualization of Oz and its characters. Not that I like all of the results, but I do find them all interesting. JB's view of Oz would be exceptional, I think, and his gift for characterization and acting would serve the material well. Plus, Tik-Tok! I would love to see a JB-tech take on Tik-Tok.

I think Frank Miller would be a good one to take on OZ.

One of my favorite comics is the first two issues that JB did of Indiana Jones. In that vein I would echo Stephen Churay...I would love a JB Shadow, Tarzan, Phantom, or Doc Savage.

What about horror? H.P. Lovecraft?

The thought has occurred to me that JB might be able to produce a great version of The Iliad or The Odyssey.  Indeed, had I sufficient cash, I think I might well send a request for his version of the final duel between Achilles and Hector.

I prefer JB's original characters, but this is a compelling question.

I would vote for CITY AT WORLD'S END - a lot of us were introduced to the book by JB mentioning it, and there's even some sample pages floating around out there.

I really like the mentions above for Doc Savage

And I would say that The Shadow would be a perfect fit for JB!

GEM CITY: "The Hard Goodbye" or "Scarecrow, I Think I'll Miss You Most Of All..." followed by "Shoes To Kill For," "The Big Green Kill," and "That Humbug Bastard."

I can totally see this.

"Interview With The Vampire" and/or "The Vampire Lestat" (excluding the "rock star" "prologue" and "epilogue", solely the stuff in the past.

"The List of 7" and "The 6 Messiahs" by Mark Frost.

Heh. I was thinking Frank would be interesting on OZ based on the social/political commentary that pops up in the Dark Knight books....There's a strong political comment made in the OZ books and I could see Miller having some fun with that.....but I wouldn't want to see Dorothy as hooker packing heat or something.

There might be more dismemberment in the Oz books than the drama...
but yeah....its a stretch.

I thought of that while I was reading "The Dunwich Horror". "Herbert West
Reanimator" done by JB would be a thrill.

I don't know. I know he'd be great, but after reading BLOOD OF THE
DEMON, his mind can go to dark places that kinda scare me.

I'd like to see JB's take on H.G. Well's The War of the Worlds and Jules Verne's Twenty-Thousand Leagues Under The Sea.

Not exactly literature, but it would also interest me to read a Byrne comic series in the same time-spanning vein as the 1936 movie THINGS TO COME.

If it's Lovecraft, I'd love to see "The Shadow Over Innsmouth"
