Can't believe I can see some on twitter still defending gun ownership right now. At the moment when we aren't sure how many CHILDREN have been killed whilst at school.

Mental health screenings continue to fail. Mostly because I doubt they are as rigorous as the psych evals that police officers have to take.

And they should be.

JB is right. America's slow suicide will only continue. Meanwhile, these terrorist attacks (and that's what they are) will persist.

I believe it.... the argument will always be that guns don't kill, the people who use them do. I'm getting so sick of that reasoning.

During Johnson's presidency, protestors against the war in Vietnam would chant "LBJ, LBJ, how many kids did you kill today?"

Let's change "LBJ" to "NRA".

I keep thinking about 18 kids whose biggest concern in life right now was what Santa was going to bring them for Christmas.

Now they have no life.

This could have been avoided if all those kids were allowed to carry guns, right?

You think you're kidding. But right now you can be sure there are those who are making exactly that claim -- or, at least, if the STAFF had been armed.

Not even close to funny, Terry.  Extremely poor timing.

Tragic, so tragic.  Seems we see so many of these shootings today.  What is wrong with society?

But that is an argument I've heard from pro-gun people. And surely when something like this has happened it is completely the right time to be examining why the gun laws are the way they are and trying to find out what can be done to prevent things like this from happening again.

you're right, Kevin. I am sorry if that was offensive. I, in no way, mean to disrespect those that lost their lives today. As JB pointed out, this kind of thinking will rear it's ugly head soon enough only they will be completely serious. That's what sickens me about this. (well, one thing anyway...)
