Somebody better check on William R....he might have passed out!

I almost did! I wish this one were mine but it's not.

There is a Galactus fan out there with great taste, Congratulations to the owner!

Also, Well done JB, to me, you ARE the best Galactus artist!

Pretentious critique mode: ON

JB presents us this time with a very fluid inking technique, reminiscent of Al Williamson. It lends the piece a decidedly sentimental mood, in line with his tradition of depicting Galactus as an essentially melancholic figure.

This somber giant inhabits a landscape of crescent moons where silence is only broken by the menacing expression on the face of EGO, the living planet. Conflict looms as EGO watches while Galactus, seemingly unaware, conducts experiments far beyond human ken.

Galactus´s focus on his cosmological work under the glare of EGO and the impending danger of its disruption may well serve as warning to all craftsmen whose labors may be compromised at any minute by their own sense of self-importance.

Therefore, one may see John Byrne´s new commission as a cautionary tale to artists who, unlike him, concentrate on the spoils of fame: touring conventions, giving interviews, feeding their planet-sized EGO, instead of working daily to improve their craft, displaying the quasi-religious discipline that has become a Byrne trademark and is epitomized here in the figure of Galactus.

:-)

I know that Galactus's gizmo could be anything, but I like how it LOOKs like it's pointing at Ego!

Which always makes me shudder:  Galactus has such wonderful toys, but he doesn't NEED them to consume a planet.  Like the ultimate foodie, his palate is simply more refined!

BTW, this one earns Ego a line on the Character Count.

Very cool!!!! I think Galactus needs to have his own movie as long as it is done right. It would make for a very good SCIFI flick. Congrats to the commissioner.
