Whilst I like all the commissions, I do have a preference for ones involving lots of characters having a battle!

That commission has all the energy of a 10 megaton bomb! What a nice way to celebrate your 40th!! Congrats to Dan. Way to keep smashing them out of the park even at the end of the season, Chief!

I like how Spider-man's webbing and the tentacles of Doc Ock carry the viewer's eye across the image.... superb!

Great commission!
No words can do justice to this piece other than say that it's amazing, fantastic and marvelous!
Nothing better than getting great comic art for your birthday. Last year I got a Joe Kubet Sgt. Rock for myself for my 45th, personalized, and it still brings a smile when I see it. Congratulations to the commissioner.

What a treat! Just amazing... It's nice to see you exploring new areas as you create these pieces. For example, your new take on the Thing with the muscles more defined, also Spider-Man's webbing seems to be drawn a bit differently than in previous commissions. Great work!

This is mine!!! And I could not be happier!!! It's very hard to contain my
excitement right now and keep my fingers from shaking so I can type
this...!
First off, I have to thank my AWESOME wife Lynn for allowing and
making this happen! As my 40th birthday was approaching this year (it
was in October), she proposed getting a JB commission as a present,
knowing I had wanted one ever since I discovered this site in 2007 (but
priorities like mortgage, food, cars, utilities kept getting in the way!).
Since we really still couldn't justify affording one, she said she would
donate her earned money from doing private volleyball lessons and
match whatever I made from selling some of my "junk" (collectibles) on
eBay - mostly various toys from 5-15 years ago; plus I went a little
overboard getting the 20"x30" with so many characters and had to
throw in a little $$ from a 2nd quarter bonus at work...
Anyway, by the time we raised the money, it was too close to my
birthday to expect it anytime around then (that didn't really matter). And
it took some time to go back & forth with Jim Warden, who does a
GREAT job of making sure you know what you want! Then when Jim
contacted me last Thursday saying JB was ready to start my
commission, I knew it was coming soon, so the last few freaking days
was like being a kid again waiting for Christmas morning! And it was
totally worth it!!! I told Mr. Warden that I was looking forward to this
more than the birth of our first child, which is due Jan 28th!***
And to John Byrne, I cannot thank you enough. Not just for this mind-
blowing commission which will be treasured and have a prime spot on
the wall in our home (Lynn is supporting this), but for all of the
enjoyment you have given me ever since I bought FF #267 at a 7-11 in
Jeffersonville, Indiana in the spring of 1984 at age 11. Your stories are
smart, challenging, unpredictable, and many times have a great sci-fi
feel to them (I feel you could have had a long career as a successful
science-fiction novelist). And you are by far the best comic book artist
ever - I know that's my humble opinion, but with all other artists I have
to "look past" one or more traits of their art, but yours is as close to
perfection as I can imagine.
The reasons for my decisions/inclusions in the commission:
- wanted 20"x30" to be vertical just because I like vertical pieces on the
wall better than horizontal (sorry if this was more difficult, JB)
- I've always liked JB's city settings
- Captain America is my favorite comic book character, so I wanted him
most prominent, but I also wanted to make sure his shield wasn't
obscured since I like its look, too.
- I love JB's FF run (currently reading it for the umpteenth time, on #282
right now), so they get in there, but I couldn't have only the Thing or
She-Hulk, so they both got in!
- JB's Spider-Man & Hulk are outstanding in his commissions, so I had
to throw them in there.
- Red Skull & Doctor Doom are my 2 favorite villains and match up well
with most of these heroes, but Mr. Warden pointed out that it was 8
heroes vs. 2 villains, so we came up with Thing vs. Hulk and I then
thought Doctor Octopus should be in there because of FF #267, my
first JB comic.
- the cat is because we have 2 cats, and I thought JB drew the cat
(Isis?) very well in his Star Trek: Assignment Earth series.
Sorry for the super-long post, everyone, but I'm bursting at the seams
with excitement and just wanted to share it!

commission out of its frame and try to color it in with crayons!);-)
