11" x 17" illustration of the X-Men charging forward against an unseen enemy similar to X-Men # 107 Pg. 1 and/or X-Men #126 Cover.

Please include the following characters:

- Cyclops with optic blast firing
- Nightcrawler
- Wolverine with claws popped in costume from X-Men # 139
- Colossus
- Storm
- Phoenix with Phoenix effect

Please have Cyclops, Wolverine, Phoenix, and Storm most prominent

Orientation and background is up to you

Unfortunately, a big ol' OOPS! in this one. I read the instructions as X-MEN 129 -- probably some kind of "echo" from the 126 reference -- so Wolverine is in the wrong suit. Should have realized 129 was far too specific a reference -- nothing special about Wolverine's costume in that issue.

Ah, well. Perhaps the customer will be forgiving. . . ?

That's beautiful, JB. Really like the composition. Your Storm is one of my favorites.

LOVE your X-MEN, JB!! (Love your interpretations of every Marvel, DC, etc., character, but I have a particular fondness for your take on the X-Men from this era)!

Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!

It has been long time since I saw the real X-MEN. A very nice way to end the year. I hope the commissioner overlooks the oops and says it is alright because that is one sweet piece of art.

A very nice way to end the year.

There are two pieces left on the 2012 List, which I hope to get to before the year ends. Nothing for 2013, yet. Fairly typical, as people wait to recover from the hammering their wallets have taken over the holidays!

Usually I have a few left, that carry into the next year, but this was a "short" list. And, of course, gone are the days when I would suspend the list in November, in order to be sure of finishing it by Xmas.

Durned recession!!

(Advantage for those contemplating ordering a commission next year -- this means the turnover time will be extra short, at least for the first part of the year.)

BTW -- I've complained before about the drop in quality of the PITT brush nibs. Working on this pieces was the worst example yet. Starting with a brand new pen, I inked the ground, the blacks on Wolverine's costume, the beam Peter is holding --- and the nib was shot! Took three pens in total to fill in the blacks on this piece. Time was I could have done the whole job with one pen.

Wha' hoppen???

Wow ! Guys, this one is mine !!!

I am so happy, I've been staring at it for at least half an hour and I can't shake the smile on my face !!!

JB, the Wolverine costume is really not a big deal. I love the piece as it is.
No one draws the X-Men like you do, these are the X-Men I love and when I picture them, they're always your X-Men.
And this illustration will have a place of honor in my home.

Thank you, JB. It is the best holiday season ever !!!

Great piece!  My favorite is Nightcrawler.  I love the design of the character and especially how you draw him.  Even when not the primary focus he just "pops" for me.  Cyclops as well, my two favorite X-men.

This might be my favorite commission yet.  Talk about your "Classic X-Men."

And that's got me thinking how much I'd like to see JB's rendition of some of the later X-Men teams, like the early '80s mohawk Storm/Paul Smith era, or the Fall of the Mutants/Marc Silvestri era, or the belts-and-buckles everywhere/Jim Lee era...

Congrats, Daniel!

Great piece. I'd hope the commissioner could forgive the error. But if
not, what day is trash pickup at your house JB?

Never mind, all is forgiven. Well, maybe next time.

Congratulations, Daniel. Great idea for a commission.

Always nice to see JB handle the X-Men especially Cyclops.
