Best Batmobile ever!

••

As I thought long before it turned up, customized, on the Adam West TV show!

Sad thing is, the modifications George Barris made did nothing to disguise the fact that the batcar in the series was the Lincoln Futura. All it did was destroy the only existing Futura. I'd have thought Barris would have a greater sense of history than that.

But, then, I suppose, when you build a career out of turning "old" cars into hotrods, history kind of falls by the wayside. Sort of like the old line, "When all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail."

Thanks! Considering that she came along during my "hiatus", and so did not create for me the same emotional connection I have for Batman, Superman, Green Lantern and the rest of the Silver Age DC characters, I guess it's somewhat surprising that I do, indeed, have a great fondness for Barbara Gordon's alter ego.

First Batgirl story I saw, upon my return to reading comics, was actually in the form of the oversized "thumbnails" Gil Kane used to do. There he would basically draw all the characters naked, and merely indicate costume and drapery lines. So that MIGHT have had something to do with why Batgirl won me over as she did!

(I exercised a HUGE amount of self-restraint today, tempted as I was to name this thread "Dynamic Duo -- and Batman.")
