Description should be self evident on this one! 11x17.

Last commission for 2012. Back to my day job for the rest of the week (that fourth issue of HIGH WAYS isn't going to draw itself!) -- then, next weekend, a bit of "business" to take care of before the 2013 commissions begin.

If I never saw this scene again, I'd be ok.
I still owe you a purple nurple for taking my hero away from me!
Damn, you can draw.

Wow. A very powerful commission. Your use of the ink and grays for the lighting is fantastic.

wow. that was a truly horrible moment for me as a reader-- seeing heather burst into the room just as mac was trying to disarm his suit's power core, gets distracted and... scene.

always thought mac was a terrific hero, a guy who did the right thing for the right reasons, loved being a superhero and was really eager to team up with americans on his fatal visit to NYC.

This is just incredible - a huge moment for ALPHA FLIGHT fans.  Amazing, JB.

The "texture" of this really makes it all the more dramatic

The way JB has rendered Heather's sweater and pants... Wow.

(I wanted to be the first comment so I kept it brief!)

Wow, I'm surprised that I have the final one of the year! Once JB mentioned that he was wrapping up his list, that had me refreshing the forum more often than usual.

So, onto the request - it's been over 3 years since my last request and I felt that I was overdue. This scene was something I had in the back of my mind for a few years now...but I kept talking myself out of it, thinking that I wanted a bit more "oomf" in my commissions - but then I saw the AF#13 dream sequence commission with pencil shading and then it hit me that that was the "oomf" this scene needed!

I love the way the pencils really complemented the piece - and WOW look at Heather's sweater! I wasn't expecting that at all! Not to mention the Box "carcass" - that's also a VERY nice surprise! :)

What a great way to close out the year!!

********

Two things:  1. I have thought of doing just this commission, but could never bring myself to.  Waaaay too many powerful emotions connected to it for me.  2. JOHN BYRNE associated me with Alpha Flight.  Can I go back to 1984 and show this to myself, please???

A HUGE congrats to you, Vinny!!  I'm jealous.  Now that I see it, I do want one for myself...

Still a traumatic ending after all these years.
