JB, did drawing this piece overlap with yesterday's commission?
I wonder if you were tempted to use this composition for the other one.

You know, more and more, I feel that JB's drawing shows less of the tell-tale signs of his "style"(cheekbone strokes, etc.)...we might get to a point where his work is recognizable only for the high level of craft!

One of the things I like about these commissions JB shares with us, is that most of them cause my mind to immediately start generating stories that explain how/why the characters find themselves in the depicted situation.

The roof looks like an extension of Magneto's hand.•• Deliberately so. --------------------------- A great idea, well executed. I didn't even spot that, but it's a smart touch.

This is mine!
Wow!
I don't really know where to begin, other than to say thank you for such a wonderful piece of artwork. I couldn't have imagined anything this cool.
When I first started collecting sketches in the early 2000's, I made a list of artists that I would like to have a sketch from. The list was very short, but one of the names was a John Byrne Cyclops. Flash forward several years and I decided to make a "Things I Want To Own Before I Die" list. There was only one art related item on that list - a John Byrne commission. Today I can check that one off the list.
I started reading Uncanny X-Men in the mid to late eighties. I remember buying a small paperback in a comic shop that was in black and white that had a reprint of I believe Uncanny 123 and 124. That book combined with Classic X-Men's reprints of Uncanny X-Men 127-128 cemented my love for that particular team of X-Men and my love of John Byrne art. Of course, I went back later and purchased the original first printings of all of the old X-Men books.
As for the character selection for this commission, Dazzler is my favorite character - don't ask why, I just like her. She is the focus of my sketch collection. Classic Cyclops was always my favorite when I was a teenager - even more so than Wolverine. I still consider evil Magneto to be the greatest X-villian and Mystique is just darn cool looking.
Thank you again so very much for creating this amazing piece of art.

Dazzler is my favorite character - don't ask why, I just like her. •• That's a question I have learned NOT to ask, Christopher! Personal taste is, after all, personal! As long as you're happy with the drawing, that's good enough for me!

Huh? ++++
I loved the M-Men commission with Angel in the center, Magneto in the front, surrounded by his evil mutants.
Then, when I saw this one, I thought: what if the cover was Magneto in this stance, framing the M-Men charging in 3/4 angle or in profile...?
