11" x 17" illustration featuring The Freedom Brigade vs. Nazi menace (giant robot/war machine); the details are as follows:

- portrait layout with cover logo and price ("Freedom Brigade" #84, September 1983, cover price 60 cents.)

- World War II background of your choice.

Characters include:

- Black Terror -- LINK1

- Daredevil -- LINK2

- The Flag -- LINK3

- Grim Reaper -- LINK4

- Nelvana --LINK5

The commissioner was hoping for a battle of "normal" sized heroes vs. a large villain, so please draw it along the lines of this commission:

LINK6

Standard Comics logo: LINK7

Freedom Brigade masthead: LINK8

Threw in some gray tones to make the robot "pop" a bit more.

Not a lot of enthusiasm for these these folk, I guess! Can't help but think if this was the Invaders there'd be a LOT more comments!!

There are grown men at Dynamite Entertainment weeping that you
don't draw these characters for them. That robot looks amazing!

Not sure about the title, though. I'm sure when I hear the explanation
it will be a Homer Simpson moment.

••

And we have a winner!

Nelvana is a Canadian character, from the black and white comics published up there during WW2 when there was an embargo on foreign publications. Pretty poor stuff, for the most part, but when I was creating Alpha Flight I decided Nelvana (which is the name of a "real" Eskimo goddess) was Snowbird's mother. A little nod to yesteryear, and the reason for my thread title!

JB, that is amazing! I think the commissioner made a wise choice with asking for the villain to be huge. I love the tones as well. Really makes the piece I think.
