Incidentally, despite her "family history", this is the first time I have drawn Nelvana -- or any of these guys, for that matter!

I only recognise Daredevil and Black Terror. Both have had new series through Dynamite. Very impressive piece. The robot does indeed "pop".

Holy crap that robot is most excellent. The gray tone was a great idea
here.

BTW I wasn't quite clear from your description, but is the robot your
design? I like the "eyebrows", ala your Dr. Doom.

Wow!!! I honestly think my favorite commissions are the ones I know little to nothing about the characters. (with the exception of this Daredevil, I know almost none)

This is easily my favorite commission of 2012-2013. Whoever owns this is one lucky fellow.

We are not Worthy.

A website I visit almost every day is this
http://digitalcomicmuseum.com/index.php
most of those characters are on there and I've read a ton of comics on that site. The stories are sometimes silly but there is some really good stuff on there too.

Anyway I'd love to see a comic on these guys, Alex Ross and others have done stories on them but yours has the right tone.

Holy sweet freedom that is nice. I am not familiar with these guys at all, but that is one heck of a great "vintage" cover.

Cool! I've liked the look of the Black Terror ever since I
saw a picture of him in one of those hard cover coffee
table history of comics type books. Just jumped right out
at me.

Yes, that's "my" robot design -- tho I made it pretty much of the period.

Originally, the request was for this guy, also a giant figure:

THE CLAW

I told Jim Warden that, historical accuracy notwithstanding, I wasn't in the mood for being crucified, so I asked for a change of villain.

The face of the Nazi-bot kinda reminds me of a crazed Iron
Giant.

Fun piece.  I've never heard of any of these characters -- they seem obscure even by obscure standards -- but now I find myself wanting to read this story!
