I must say, it's a hoot and a half playing "on" Delta Vega/Talos V. I've heard Roddenberry swiped that set and backdrop from another production, but it's still the richest and most cinematic of all the soundstage sets TOS used. Certainly a long way ahead of the sand/rocks/red sky that unfortunately became standard as the series went on.

Do you know what production he swiped it from?  If so, you might be able to scrape up some "new" angles on it.

Some quick research indicates that the Talos IV set was designed and
built specifically for the first pilot, including the cyclorama. Hmmm.

It looks FANTASTIC... like peeking into an alternate reality and seeing stills from a "lost" episode!

That page above gives me the tingles!!!

I know Roddenberry spent "movie money" on the first pilot, so he could release it theatrically if it didn't sell as a series. But I have heard many times that he recycled some Western backgrounds for Talos IV. Certainly it LOOKS like Monument Valley.

I wonder what happened to it? Probably too expensive to keep a soundstage occupied with such a big set, but as sort of noted above, I would rather have seen those peaks and rocks over and over than week after week of. . .

Here's a peek at how I decided to handle the credits, again minus story copy.

As you'll no doubt guess, deleting the copy tells you I have done a bit of rewriting as I "remaster".

Can hardly wait until Chris tells you it's a live project!

Looks awesome, JB!  Love that title/credit page above.  I am so glad you are doing this project - very much looking forward to it!

As for IDW publishing this, I of course think that would be cool, but I also really like the idea of something like this just being on the website.  It makes it a fun experiment and a real treat for longtime Forum members who have enjoyed JB's Star Trek work.

Dear Lord, smite my enemies and save the little children, but don't take
me before I get to read JB's new Star Trek project!
