GAK! TREKCore.com, my principle source for images, just disappeared! There was a minute or two yesterday when it wasn't "responding", so I hope this is just as temporary. Not sure what to do if it's actually gone away completely for some reason!

Yikes-- scary concept.

Hoping to help, I found the TREKCore Facebook page is still operating as normal with new posts from less than 20 minutes ago.

No reference there to going away or anything about the main site.

Fortunately, the page I am working on right now is a kind of "flashback-within-a-flashback", so I intended to recycle images from earlier in the issue. Which means I am not losing time on this.

But. . . !!

Hmmm. . .   Found another site with even MORE screen caps -- but unfortunately it's "animated", so the images don't just click open, they expand from the thumbnails, which is time consuming. Plus, so many images turns out to be a bit of a problem. Searching takes much longer with so many pages!

Oh, well -- soldier on. Perhaps TREKCore will return soon!

Major outage affecting three fairly large Hosting providers (all part of the same parent company) - HostGator, HostMonster, and BlueHost.  Likely that TrekCore is hosted by one of those providers.  The JB Gallery has been affected by this off and on all day, too.

With TREKCore back in action I finished page 35 today, and with 40 already done, that leaves only 4 pages and this will be complete. Which is hard to believe. After all, it was only the last week in June that this became REAL.

Sometimes OCD can be a boon. . .

So, it'll be 44 pages then. Double-size special! Yay!

You may have misread, or I was not clear. When I said 40 was already done, I meant PAGE 40, not 40 pages.

The issue will have 40 pages of story, plus whatever IDW puts in the back. 3 signatures would be 48 pages, a typical "double-sized" issue.

This is going to be something of an interesting experiment, methinks. Traditionally, while STAR TREK movies make big bucks at the box office, and TREK novels find their way onto the NY Times Best Seller list, sales of TREK comics have been dodgy at best. All the way back to Gold Key, it seems Trekkies -- including me! -- have been resistant to hand-drawn adventures of our heroes.

Will the reaction to this be different, I wonder? 40 years of experience with fans of all kinds has taught me there will be plenty of people who will find reasons not to buy this book -- some quite valid, from their own perspective, others completely fabricated. My previous TREK comics have been very well received, critically (tho, again, the sales were not commensurate with what one might expect from STAR TREK), largely, no doubt, because TREK fans and comicbook fans form separate if overlapping groups, and the TREK fans didn't know I am the Great Satan. I can already hear the microbrains dismissing this as "just cut-and-paste" and "too lazy to actually draw", but Trekkies are not preprogrammed to think that way.

We shall see, we shall see.
