11" x 17" illustration of Doc Samson, no backgrounds. The details are:

- please draw him standing heroically and wearing the costume shown on the cover of Hulk # 193:

(Dapper Dan is away having a real life, so it will be a week or so before commission pieces start being uploaded to the Gallery.)

I always like to see the plural forms used when commissions are being discussed!

The Doc looks great!

I was expecting Medusa from the title! I like how bold the ink lines around his arms and on his back and it's a great action pose, full of life.

Also expecting Medusa but this really works! Well done, JB.

Nice one.  Without the lightning bolt on his shirt showing and green hair, it took me a few extra seconds to recognize him.

Looking at Doc Samson reminds me of all the times when I was a younger kid wanting to see him get his own spotlight in a comic.  I'm sure it wouldn't work out, though.  He works best as a supporting character, though I still have thoughts of his joining a team where his combination of brains and brawn could fit in.

Now you've got me trying to think who ELSE has that combination of hair, belt, boots and short sleeves!

Doc Sampson has always been one of my favorites and John, I especially enjoyed how you portrayed him when you wrote and drew the Incredible Hulk.

That is why commissions are so much fun. You get to see characters like this appear.

JB,

Are you a fan of the Doc Samson character, or is he an early part of Marvel's "de-uniquing" of characters?

I would not go so far as to call myself a "fan", but he's a fun character to work with, and I think different enough from the Hulk that he does not "de-unique" the concept -- unlike the current explosion of unoriginality over at the House of Idea.

I have always enjoyed Doc Samson. Enjoyed both versions of his costume. Congrats to the commissioner. Nice pose.
