Very cool! Great idea with the mirror - and I really like that his back is to us.

This could count as a two character commission.

It always bothered me that the "one bad day" conceit from THE KILLING JOKE applies best to Two-Face not The Joker. Becoming unhinged can't turn a loser stand-up comic into the Batman's greatest foe but a District Attorney gone bad would have the background and connections for an effective life of crime. And there's no need to diminish the tragedy with "coincidence."

THE DARK KNIGHT muddled the Two-Face origin by involving The Joker but does anyone recall if there was the psychobabble of a tortured childhood/multiple personality shoveled into Dent's history or was he presented as a normal guy until the events of the film?

Love Twoface, awesome commission today and perfect for me sadly. I recently had some dental work on a tooth and the dentist paralyzed the entire right side of my face, "oops" she said. It lasted 5 hours. Two weeks later I am having the most unbearable pain on the whole right side of my face, she has me on antibiotics because she thinks there is now an infection.  It was so bad last night even taking a morphine pill did not touch the pain. So I now honestly understand and relate to Harvey Dent. ;0)

Don't absolutely hold me to this, but I am pretty sure the psychobabble was shoveled into Dent in the comics before the movie. If I am not mistaken, around the same time the same nonsense was "added" to the Hulk's backstory.

AWESOME!!! Yeah, Dick Sprang may have had a similar idea, and his art was great, but I think your execution of the idea works well in that it looks like he's looking at another person in the mirror.

Aside to Jodi: I hope you feel better soon.

As I was working on this piece, I found myself thinking of Haf-and-'Haf, the Dick Tracy villain introduced in 1966, who bore more than a passing resemblance to Twoface.

Twoface predated him by several decades, but what is significant is that Haf-and-Half got that way when he found himself lying in a pool of corrosive liquid, with half his face submerged. This origin was transfered to Twoface in the Nolan movie.

sigh

The first I recall reading of it on the comics was in a "Secret Origins" special on Bat-Villains back around 1990, or so. I also think "Batman The Animated Series" had something to do with that backstory.

I have a fairly strong memory of being disappointed when the animated series picked up the psychobabble angle.

I could be wrong. First time for everything, you know!

Looks like that special I mentioned was from 1989:

Here is an edited version of Two-Face's origin from the animated series:

Origin of Two-Face video.
