Yep! That's what I was saying.
I'll still pick up a variant cover if it's an artist I like. I'll grab any Adam Hughes or JRjr variant covers. But I'm not interested in the theme variants or getting a variant just because it's a variant.

Got it. Should have re-read that instead of posting at the end of the workday.
Just be thankful that we didn't have to see Deadpool scooping the dead Watcher's eyeballs out of his head.

I noticed in the new Previews DC has all the "Bombshells" themed variants for the June releases at regular price vs. the standard 1:xx.
Based on 40's/50's pin-ups.
At least you can pick & choose at regular price.

I tend to only buy variants if they are regular price (IDW's Samurai Jack and Powerpufff Girls has some beautiful variants as does Archie) or if they are so cool (like JB's Popeye variant) that I just can't resist.

Stopped by the comic store today and discovered a new use for variant covers. Since the store charges more for them, they don't sell as quickly, meaning that I was able to pick up a copy of Slott & Allred's new Silver Surfer book despite it being sold out everywhere else I've checked.
For some reason, the Surfer is depicted as a cartoon sloth on the cover, but I like sloths just fine. I'm no Kristen Bell or anything, but I like 'em. :-)

Just admit that your copy of Silver Surfer is tear-stained.

Cry all over a priceless, near-mint variant cover?? Perish the thought! I used a free copy of Comic Shop News to blot and sniffle into... That's why they include those in the bag, isn't it?

I have almost always chosen the regular cover over the variant cover. JB's STAR TREK: FRONTIER DOCTOR provided me with one of the rare instances where I purchased both.

Quite a nice cover, but talk about pitching to a small demographic: LINK
