Mars is very bright right now, but it's in the East, maybe Venus?

Step one for us amateur sky-sleuths: recreate the night sky at the hour with an astronomy program. Check the portion of the sky for the Moon, and if nothing's there, start looking for other candidates.

Edited to add:
If I've got the time and night right, the Moon should have been low and to the southeast, so it has an alibi.

Mention it to the Military and they'll say it's a weather balloon.

International Space Station? Use this link to see if it or something else flew over your area last night.

Who knows? Maybe the other side of that cloud had a bat-signal on it.
