Not just bars and churches but unsecured sections of airports as well as government buildings without security checkpoints.
The inmates are running the asylum.

From the linked article...
"The law also would permit schools to arm staff members..."
Ridiculous. Absolutely and totally ridiculous.

Joe's right, how exactly are we supposed to protect ourselves against the inevitable zombie apocalypse if we don't have access to guns? Didn't think that one through too carefully did you Matt.

This is serious.
Further investigation...
"The new law removes a restriction that prevented those convicted of certain misdemeanors from getting a gun permit. And in a provision that has some law enforcement officials concerned, police will not be able to detain a person "for the sole purpose of investigating whether such a person has a weapons carry license."
As Deal signed the bill in Ellijay, a community of 1,600 about 65 miles north of Atlanta, the Georgia Gun Sense Coalition had an event in downtown Atlanta that included a moment of silence for all gun victims. In 2011, the most recent available, gunfire killed 1,175 people in Georgia, including 443 who were murdered, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention."

It is indeed serious, but it can't be taken seriously. It's obviously the result of gross human stupidity. Frankly, just like the religious, gun lovers have fallen into a deep, deep well of self-comforting self-serving ignorance, and I can't see any ladder to get them out. No matter how many statistics about gun deaths are quoted at them, how many mass killings they see on the news, they'll dismiss it all as "isolated incidents", unrepresentative of the apparently well-behaved gun-toting majority. Why do they ignore the plain simple truth? Because people like guns, they give a sense of power and control. They're glamorized in popular fiction. They're cool. That's the sad truth about human beings: logic is not a strong point, whereas self-deception is.
Let me give you an example. World War I was known as the war to end all wars. So after that awesome demonstration of wanton devastation on an unprecedented scale, what did mankind turn around and do a couple of decades later?

The only thing stopping me from visiting Georgia was the fear that I'd have to check in all of my concealed handguns if I went on an all-night pub crawl. Who wants to deal with all those stupid claim tickets on a booze-filled night out, especially when you're teaching Sunday school the next morning?
Since that's no longer an issue, I'm cashing in my frequent flyer miles right now.

The inevitable result of misinterpreting the 2nd Amendment for generations. The laws we pass are a reflection of our values and priorities. Clearly, the safety and well being of children is way, way down on that list. The only result from this law will be that the death toll will rise.

See, that was the ONE thing that was wrong at Sandy Hook -- slaughtering those little children wasn't EASY enough. This FIXES that!

These people, long ago, crossed the line of being mere "gun advocates." They're gun idolaters, plain and simple.

"We Georgians believe in the right of people to defend themselves..."
What about the right of unarmed innocents to mitigate the risk of being shot?
