Was pleasantly surprised to see a homage to JB's Wolverine shot by Tom Grummett in a recent Avengers Academy issue. If you're wondering the connection, the character is apparently a young Sebastian Shaw who Wolverine is tracking!

Argh, I always struggle with linking images here. I copied the image to photo bucket and that is what I linked to. What do I need to do?

I have trouble using links in Firefox, but it seems to work better in other browsers like Google Chrome or Safari

Maybe you can just paste a reduced image in a post below?  Save it to your desktop and then just upload it.

There's a space in the link, this is what often breaks links posted on this forum.

Here's the same link with the space removed, it works in Firefox and should in all other browsers:

Here's the original image in case it's removed from Photobucket:

I have a complicated opinion of homages. Or rather I think
THE SIMPSONS having Homer Simpson speak about "sugar" in
the same way Pacino spoke about cocaine in SCARFACE is an
actual homage -- the joke works on its own and it works
even better if you've seen the source.

A drama copping a scene from another drama or a comedy
copping a joke/scenario from another comedy feels more like
straight-up stealing.

So perhaps, for me, it's in the context.

Okay, a comment:

There is a whisper of STAR TREK - ENTERPRISE in this drawing. "Hey! Remember that really cool shot of Wolverine in the sewer? Well, Sebastian Shaw did it FIRST!"

But, hey! You know what they say. Imitation is the sincerest form of copying.

I generally like Tom Grummett's work, but that's awful.  To even associate JB with that image, IMO, is a kick in the gut.

Hmm, I actually really like Tom Grummett and he's clearly influenced by JB, I have occasionally bought books just based on his name as I know I will get good art.

By the way, JB, this 'young Sebastian Shaw' is in current continuity (no, I have no idea why, I'm not interested. Got this book for the Avengers Academy but it crosses over with X-Men sadly) so Wolverine still 'did it first'!

PS. Thanks to Kourosh for fixing the image. It was my birthday and I was drunk hence my technical fail :)
