Looks like the old 40s style of punching.

<<I'm surprised no-one has yet commented on the most .. outstanding .. parts of the composition. Even for Power Girl, that area seems fairly bounteous ...>>

I wasn't going to comment on the overall drawing quality because I thought this was fan art. It's not. It's actually from a semi-pro artist who drew for Marvel and DC in the 70s and 80s.

I think we're all disturbed by the fact that Power Girl's left boob seems to be larger than her right. The physics issues are clearly a secondary concern.

I hate to out the guy, but I'm pretty sure he spliced together two different poses. The Wonder Woman pose is from WONDER WOMAN #236 and is by Rich Buckler and Vince Colletta. The Power Girl pose probably IS Wally Wood (maybe over Ric Estrada) from some interior page of ALL-STAR COMICS in the 70's. He probably altered PG's arm, explaining the awkward angle. And this explains why PG is punching down and WW is falling up--the two poses were never meant to be together in the first place.

Ironically, Rich Buckler is the guy everybody accuses of swiping--and here he is being swiped himself!

And to be fair, Buckler probably DID swipe some of this pose from Garcia-Lopez who did a similar pose TWO issues earlier! But at least Buckler altered enough of it to make it his own (swipe-able) pose!

HOLY [BLEEP]!!

I could've sworn that was a fan art job by Landgraf. Looks like he actually traced that WW pose.

The Garcia-Lopez cover sums up my childhood experience with DC comics. Exciting covers, but disappointingly dull stories.

Notwithstanding the direction that WW is flying, three things occurred to me.
1) Power Girl is punching sideways... not facing her target.
2) There are motion lines (sorry, don't know the technical term) for Power Girl's arm, implying movement... but none for Wonder Woman. So either there's some inconsistency, or Wonder Woman was struck and wasn't knocked back. Maybe she was hovering... :)
3) That must be some punch to turn WW's torso sideways and back, but leave her legs forward and front.

Is that from a Claremont issue of X-Men? Classic piece of "As you know, Bob" dialogue there.

I'm pretty sure that was after Claremont left the book. In fact it might be
the issue immediately following his departure.

I presume there was, at the time, shock and horror from fandom over the deep delineation of Rogue's gluteal cleft in that drawing, above. After all, these are costumes, not paint. . . . .
