A pencil instead of a cigar sticking out of a face that barely resembles Kirby. Excellent "tribute'!

Judging by that drawing, it's also J. Jonah Jameson's birthday.
I love it when NPR tries talking about pop culture, sports, or anything else beyond their usual 'jurisdiction' of soft-spoken commentary with a decided 'progressive' lean. Stay tuned for NPR's report on the Washington Redskins' name controversy. Meanwhile, on ESPN, Sportscenter has an in-depth piece on the ISIS/ISIL naming controversy. ;-P

Very minor note -- in more than one of the panels at the Comics Reporter tribute to Kirby, the Thing complains about "chicken-scratchin'" this-and-that. Very amusing way to adhere to the Comics Code.

Roger Stern observed, years ago, that while Wolverine was the kind of guy who would drop the f-bomb for punctuation, Ben Grimm was the kind of guy who would actually SAY "blankety-blank."One of the fun things about writing the Thing, in fact, was finding amusing ways for him to cuss. "Ichin' an' groanin'" was a favorite.

And, as you made clear many years ago in WHAT THE-?!, there's no way to make fun of the way Ben talks -- it just ends up sounding like Ben himself!
I do wonder what Ben's speech pattern would've been like had Stan Lee not provided the dialogue for FANTASTIC FOUR. Probably not as amusing.

Thanks for that link JB!It seems like a lot of stuff, but even as quick a survey of his vast career, it's hardly anything. Amazing.
Happy 97th!
Anyone heard of any special retrospectives planned for his 100th? TV documentaries/Books, etc.?
