Looking at the thread topic, I think that what these issues really show off is Mr Byrne's range. The body shape of Spider-Man is right (as with the other cast) and the silhouettes are all on model: but it's still noticeably his work. It's got his dynamism. I'm no artist, but that must be hard to achieve- being on model but showing your own style.

I'm in the midst of a read-through of my Spider-Man collection (currently on ASM #271). For reasons I can't quite put my finger on, JB and Mackie's run didn't entirely work for me as it was being published...but I'm really looking forward to re-reading it. 

…in 2015, I'd imagine.

My guess is that I was swept up in other series at the time, and it's very possible a revisit will show me what I was missing.
