My 20 something stepson finally moved out this week and he left behind a few things like some old comics he had. I'm going to assume they were his Dad's because some of them were from the 70's. Like this one, Marvel Premiere 48, with Ant Man. Interior art by JB and Bob Layton!

Very cool find in my own house! There's a panel in this one that will be very familiar to those who have read the old OHOTMU. The front cover is by Cockrum and McLeod and the back cover has the classic Dr. J Spalding ad.

I can't tell you how many times I read that comic as a kid. What an incredible find!

I too remember liking that two-parter when it first came out. It's been
a long time since I've read it though.

That's an incredible find. Someone knew quality comics when they had them. I wonder if my old school buddy ever kept some of what he had?

(Probably not. Back in my day, we almost always threw our stuff out after it got raggy.)

I now treasure my old raggy ones as much or more than the comics that actually have value!

Oddly enough, Ant-Man came up in conversation this weekend. Would surfaces be smooth at the microscopic size of an ant?

••

They would not. And I included margin notes to that effect on my pencils. "Remember, at this size NOTHING is SMOOTH!"

This was ignored by the inker.

As an addendum to a Slow Saturday Funday, we had a few visitors later in the day commemorating the Battle Of Britain fly over.

Although scientifically accurate, I'm sure Bob was thinking, "Who cares" when inking the Ant-Man book. Maybe that's something for a follow up to Triple Helix with a character who reduces in size... you can show things properly at that scale!

I have the first part of this story but I've never seen the second part the issue above. I may have to track it down an re-read it.

It used to be fairly easy to find both of the issues to this story at a pretty low price, Conner. But, since the news of an "Ant-Man" movie with Scott Lang as the character, it has become harder to get and more pricey. Hopefully, you will still be able to stumble across it at a fair price,
