Lots of people in the streets right now on Hong Kong Island. Police is
using tear gas, pepper spray and considering rubber bullets to shoot in
the crowd.
Several metro stations are situer blocked or closed.
Tanks are said to be ready on stand-by in Shenzhen, on Chinese
side, at the border with Hong Kong.
The reason: Hongkong people are not Happy with a recent decision by
the Chinese government to control the coming 2017 election by
selecting the appropriate candidates ( for Bejing ).

Even some news reporters from some Tv stations are saying to look
for news somewhere else than on the national channels.

I saw an interesting chart today. Hong Kong as a % of China's GDP has declined from 16.5% in 1997 to 2.5% in 2013. The point was that HK does not matter as much to China these days.

Social medias in China ( Facebook was already forbidden
everywhere but Shanghai area ) are in lock down in the
Mainland. Instagram to be one of them.
There are also disinformation, like some retouched
photos to say that this is to show the support for the
First of October, and people are in the streets to
celebrate China ! Incredible !
In HK, people are still in the streets. It starts to
spread to the New Territories.

Considering Shenzhen is the center of the Universe for electonics, that could have global repercussions if things go south.
I have to say, in 1980, I would not have pictured the 21st Century going the way it has.
