JB,
With your extensive history working in the industry, and having had the opportunity to work alongside some of the greatest ARTISTS/WRITERS/INKERS/EDITORS ever to grace the medium, If you had to list/suggest the TOP FIVE lessons learned, advice given/taken, garnered from working in the trenches, for anyone who aspires to one day work in comics, what would they be?

(Also, if there are more than FIVE, Please feel free to expand at your leisure...)

There's definitely something lacking in today's stars with regards to the last two items. Given how it has turned out, JB is right about the first three.

Wish more people lived by that rule.

JB,
Thank you so much for your response.

The only one I would ask you to expand upon is:
'Chase down rumors'.

••

Not long after I left UNCANNY X-MEN, I heard (or more precisely read, in various fanzines), the earliest Big Bad Byrne stories. I laughed at them. They were so stupid and preposterous I thought nobody with half a brain could ever believe them.

My mistake.
