IDW have put out some beautiful books on the life and
work of Alex Toth. Amazing stuff.

There is a great documentary on the Space Ghost and Dino Boy DVD
that came out a few years ago. Well worth a watch.

Eric Jansen:A friend gave me the SHOWCASE PRESENTS HOUSE
OF MYSTERY and while the stories are nothing to write home about,
the art just gets better and better--especially once Alex Toth starts. (Al
Williamson, Gray Morrow, Bernie Wrightson, and Neal Adams also
look great!) I'm not a big fan of B&W comics, but his work here looks
incredible! It's hard to imagine how color could have done anything but
mess things up.
========
Eric, the Zorro material was originally published in color. This volume
is in B&W, and I couldn't agree with you more. In fact, this is a case
where an artist went in and reworked the artwork and it actually
improved it, IMO.

As I mentioned, Toth was allowed to add a gray tone to the panels to
give it some depth. The results are nice. I think I once had a Disney
comic that was digest sized that collected a couple of stories. It was in
color. I don't think I really want to see this in color again considering
the B&W is so beautiful.
