Speaking of Unus, I liked JB's portrayal of him in X-MEN HIDDEN YEARS.

I understand the confusion over pronouncing Magneto, due to his powers you are inclined to pronounce it mag-netto,if we pronounce it mag-neeto his powers ought to be electrically based!•• First time I saw him, in X-Men 1, I pronounced his name "Mag-neet-oh." There was, after all, a preexisting word that was pronounced that way. I didn't fret a whole lot about how that pronunciation would define his powers, since they were clearly magnetic in character. Shooter insisted it was MAG-NET-OH. One day, when I was in the office, this came up, and I trotted down the hall to Stan's office. I stuck my head in and asked "The X-Men villain who control's magnetism. How do you pronounce his name?" "MAG-NEET-OH!" said Stan, which made perfect sense, since he'd used "If Magneat-O Should Clobber Us" as a title in NOT BRAND EECH! I reported this back to Shooter, who dismissed it saying "Stan say 'Oh-meg-a'!" Because, you know, the guy who named the character would not know how to pronounce it! Later Shooter created his own "Magneto," Graviton, which just about everybody in the Office pronounced to rhyme with "Ron," but he insisted was pronounced to rhyme with "run." Ahh, I thought, you really DO want this guy to be "your Magneto!"

Wallace, my friends and I went round and round about Mag-NEAT-o or Mag-NET-o until that episode of Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends! I was in the camp that was saying it wrong. =)

I've always said it as "YOU-nus."
A few that had briefly tripped me up in my youth were names like Amazo, Metallo, Mentallo, and, believe it or not, Darkseid (I was still too young to get that it was "dark side").
I can also remember the kid down the street talking about his favorite superhero, the Teen Titan, Chan-GELL-ing.

I was ignorant of the term 'magneto' when I was introduced to Magneto, so I was in the weird place of pronouncing it 'Magnetto' while being aware, with my last name constantly being mispronounced 'haggerman', that it should be 'mag-neat-o'... but I was still saying 'magnetto'. I don't understand how I painted myself into that corner.

It wasn't until he started appearing on SUPER FRIENDS that I realized I'd been mispronouncing Darkseid's name. BATMAN:TAS hipped me to the correct pronounciation of Ra's Al Ghul. The ARROW show and Chris Nolan's Bat-films both use the pronounciation I always used as a kid.

'Ra's Al Ghul' was a little over my my head when I was introduced to that character(BRAVE AND BOLD # 159, in a rare 'hero teams up with villain to stop worse villain' story). I just called him 'Roz Al Ghoul' until I heard the pronunciation in the movies.
