It took some time, but I finally completed my first Spider-Man costume
and thought I’d share the building process with you guys. I showed a
little of this in the Halloween thread, but wanted to post a more expanded
look. The inspiration to make the suit came from a similar suit build that
was put online last year. You can find the info on it here -
http://imgur.com/gallery/xfpPm.

Spider-Man has always been my favorite superhero and since Halloween
this year was the day before my 30th(!) birthday, I wanted to try
something extra special.

Since the build involved a lot of pictures and I don't want to overwhelm
this post with graphics, here's the link where you can read in-depth about it -
http://www.therpf.com/f78/damngoodphil-s-comic-book-spider-m an-build-orhadar-print-asm2-faceshell-eyes-228958/

It was a lot of work, but the end result was worth it:

The only thing missing that I did not get to add was the underarm
webbing. I may still add this at some point when I can.

There are a few other tweaks I’d like to make to the suit, but overall, I'm
pleased with the results. Let me know what you guys think!

I'm tempted to say, "It's amazing" but it is much, much better than that. Completely outstanding!

Outstanding, Phillip. I somehow missed that RPF thread! Haven't
checked out the Marvel costume section in awhile.

I for one, would love to see someone do a full-on Ditko costume, with
black instead of blue, full underarm webs, and the very dense web-
pattern.

Ditto with a classic John Romita, Sr. version. I think Romita refined
Ditko's initial costume into the most cosmetically perfect superhero
costume ever, with the "nose" and "mouth" on the mask, the shape of
the eyes, and the very clean and sleek web-pattern and spider-
symbols.

While I do like the Spider-Man movie costumes, certain aspects (like
the silkscreened brick pattern and the raised, silver webbing) don't
mesh with my own vision of what Spider-Man would "really" look like.
Aside from the shading and color gradation effects, yours is pretty on-
target to what I'd like to see. Great job!

I said as much in the original thread where you posted these pictures, but I'll say again what a great job you did, Phillip.

It's also a marvel that you could web-up for the team, Philip!
