Here's a cool comic book related photo of Jack Kirby and Joe Sinnott, and friend!

That picture is significant, too, in that it shows one of the very few times Kirby and Sinnott were actually in the same room together! As Joe told me when I first met him, he and Jack did not actually even meet until after their "collaboration" on FANTASTIC FOUR was done!

It's also amusing to look at that picture and ask, if we didn't already know, and we were called upon to pick out of a lineup the two who had created those huge, sprawling, cosmic images, would we choose those very ordinary looking guys? (Kinda goes to something I have addressed before: how so many people working in comics today seem as much concerned with crafting their personal "Look" as they are with creating the stories and art.)

Kirby looks like any "zaide" (Yiddish for grandpa) in Florida.

Two titans!

On a slightly related tangent, I note that some artists spend as much time on their signature as on the actual work lol.

Jack looks so small. How did he contain all that energy and imagination...!

Exactly my thought when I met him. I'm a shade under six feet tall, but I seemed to tower over him!

One thing I enjoyed about the Marvel cartoons of the early 1980s was
Stan Lee's narration -- it felt like your cool uncle telling you stories,
which is what this picture reminds me of, as well. Now, comics often
feel like kids telling stories to other kids. Not quite the same, and it's
something I miss.

No matter the stature you can almost see the energy in Jack's body, he's ready to go.
Thanks for the post Matt.

What Doug Centers said! You can see the power pulsing through Kirby's body there!
