In those days before product placement was ubiquitous, film and TV shows often consciously sought to avoid showing actual products. I can think of many instances back then where real products had fake labels posted over them. I don't think it was out of concern for trademarks so much as a desire to not look like their show was a commercial or be providing free advertising. I doubt Marvel would have objected to having the actual unaltered comic shown.

I don't think there was much to it. They writers wanted the kid to be reading a comic, as many kids still did regularly in the 1970s', and they used "Shark Man" because "Ant-Man" was trademarked. It was easier, I assume, to just slap a sticker with another name over the original title than to print up a completely fake comic book.•• Exactly right. And it goes beyond comics. Watch old sitcoms and notice how many times a strip of tape appears across the logos on cereal boxes. Unless, of course, the show is sponsored by a cereal company! Now come along and visit with The Clampett family, As they learn the pleasant customs Of the Hills of Beverly
You can bet one pleasant custom Is enjoying breakfast, too, Cuz Kellogg's is our sponsor, Kellogg's best to you!

My wife and I are waist deep in our Netflix rewatch of 'Friends', and one thing that has impressed me about the show is how deep the comedic commitment goes - the props department, which on most shows is kind of generic, really delivers silly fake products. In particular, I liked the 'Cerveza' stand-in for Corona, and Chandler's omnipresent 'Yooh'.

Jeffrey Tambor was one of those actors that seemed to be everywhere back in the day.

It doesn't surprize me that they sold immediately if that was a "buy it now" listing at that price. Because of the hype with the movie, in nice shape, just the first issue goes for more than that price usually on eBay.
After the movie is released, even if it does well, we'll see if the value holds...
Speculation is alive and well, folks.
