When I was a kid I had a book that this sketch was in, but I'm having trouble finding out which JB sketchbook book it's from. I know it was the color cover of Comic Reader #167, but I could swear it was in another published JB sketchbook. I have The Art of John Byrne volume 1 (Out of My Head) as I thought it was from that one, but it was not there. Any help? I looked in other threads but didn't see anything about this...apologies if it was covered already and I missed it. I love this pic...

I loved when Ororo's hair was depicted like this.

It should be noted that, like the other cover images pictured above, the X-Men drawing was done FOR the COMIC READER.

Awesome! I plan to pick that up as well...that pic has resonated with me throughout most of my childhood and ALL of my adult life! (Well, one of the many JB sketches that have been beloved throughout my life...)

Ohhhh, not "always"! Just looking at those two drawings side-by-side is a reminder of how far I had to go when I started -- and why I sometimes want to do murder when someone wallowing in nostalgia in lieu of common sense says my "old stuff was better."

Grrrrrrr..........

Love these images, especially the version with the team in motion. Great stuff. Have to wonder if Wolverine wouldn't have been that one trouble-maker who'd "customize" his school uniform in ways calculated to exasperate Professor X...

I love the body language that JB captures -- particularly Nightcrawler's lunging stance.
